If you’ve seen the movie “Bottle Shock,” then you’ve heard of Stephen Spurrier. Alan Rickman played the cheeky British reinterpretation of the world-renowned wine expert. Although there was much more fiction than fact in the film, the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976 was the real deal. For those who may not be familiar, the blind tasting put old world French wines up against the then unknown wines of California. The results changed the wine game and put California on the global stage.
In this latest episode of “MUNCHIES Presents,” they take a look at the glorious life of the award-winning writer and wine Jedi. Spurrier is most likely the most influential tastemaker in the world of wine today. As you’ll see, he lives and breathes the nectar of the gods. Check out his personal cellar, to a tasting of Spain’s greatest wine, to the Dorset vineyard where he’s making his own spectacular sparkling wine. This guy is living the dream and has been for decades. Cheers.
