Sweet home San Diego has been minted as the craft beer capital of the world at this point. The beer coming out of our sleepy little beach town is changing the way consumers all over the world think of the beloved beverage. Along the way, some of these brewery brands are turning into empires for a number of folks who had very humble beginnings. For a little context/history of the movement, be sure to check out the killer documentary series “Kings of the Craft.”
Five years ago, well-known surf and action sports filmmaker, Josh Landan, followed his gut and decided to take a new path career-wise. He had always wanted to start a business from the ground up with friends. An entrepreneurial spirit had been coursing through his veins for many years and it finally became a ‘now or never’ scenario. Landan and pro skateboarder Taylor Knox spit balled a slew of potential business ideas but it wasn’t until Knox had been approached by a liquor company that the clouds parted and the path forward was revealed. This is when the idea Saint Archer Brewery was born.
“The Path Unseen,” is a series of films crafted by Saint Archer and feature some of the professional athletes and creatives that partnered with Josh Landan to make the brewery a reality. Guys like Paul Rodriguez, Atiba Jefferson, Danny Hess, and the aforementioned Taylor Knox have been featured previously. Check this one out on Saint Archer’s head brewer, Yiga Mirashiro.
The latest edition to the series tells the entire Saint Archer story through the perspective of it’s President and co-founder. Inspirational stuff. Always a pleasure to support people doing big things in San Diego and equally inspirational to see a guy like Josh Landan follow his gut and go for it. Enjoy.
