A little history lesson from our friends at VANS. The man in charge, Steven Van Doren, drops some knowledge regarding the history of their iconic sideswipe design. Designed by Steven’s father, VANS founder Paul Van Doren in 1976, the design originated from a doodle (as most amazing ideas do). It first appeared on the ‘Old Skool’ (originally called the Style #36) which was the second skate shoe released by the young sneaker upstart. It quickly became the central nervous system of southern California (now global) skateboard iconography.
